The way down

I'm sure you're getting sick of mountain pictures, but here's the last from our way down.

Interesting pottery.

The trail was dug down a good 4 feet, crazy.

The "foothills".

Just because we didn't go there doesn't mean we can't celebrate like we did.

To do list.

Lake Phewa, this is one of my favorite pictures.

Yes, these poor ponies are carrying rocks, up a mountain.

The sun coming through the clouds.

Down filled rain clouds.

I think this rope is a touch short, but cute cow.

We made it! and didn't even break an ankle.

Celebratory Indian food. (note the lipstick, two weeks in the mountains...)

We have a few more posts lined up, when we get a chance we'll put them up.

We are now in Bangkok, it's sweltering hot, but we've checked into a expensive hotel with AC and a pool to live out our last few days of homelessness.  We'll see you soon, we're home on the 26th!

Mountain Madness

This set of photos bring us to our highest point, the town of Deurali, and most of the way back down. We climbed to 3700M, and by the time we got there it was cold, very cold. It rained on us a few times but we were incredibly luckily. Every time we stepped under the awning of our lodge for the night, it started to pour buckets, most nights it hailed. We must have had someone watching us, we chalked it up to good karma.

Warmth in many fashions.

Stream side chocolate and water break.

"We're in the mountains, this is great"

Crossing over eerie Avalanche chutes, with a stream running through it.

Fuel.

Mid mountain mending.

Suspended stone steps.

Spot the lizard!

Beautiful butterfly.

Green valley.

Bootless rest stop.

Ridiculous suspension bridges.

"Wait, where are we?"

Vintage hiking ad.

Storm's a brewin'.

Safe from hail, cold from shower.

Hail madness.

Big ice cubes.

Note the Umbrella...

Looking down towards Pokhara, low lying rain clouds in the valley.

Storm's still going strong behind us.

Our last clear view of the "fishtail moutain", any guesses how it got the name?

These are from the highest point we climbed to, no more trees, lots of snow, bare rock faces on both sides of us. It was also cold and windy, until the sun poked its head over the mountains.

We have still more photos to share, we will put them up as soon as we can.
We miss you guys at home a lot, but we will be home to see you all soon!

Fields of Green

This leg of the trek where the photos were taken was the most beautiful part. With a great panoramic view of the mountains, rhododendron flowers in full bloom everywhere, lavender, being literally in the clouds, and walking first along a tall thin ridge, then dropping into a deep rocky gorge, it's hard to top.

Ginger with some lavender trees.

Head in the clouds.

There was clouds settling in the valleys on both sides of the ridge we walked across, very neat.

Reading "On the Road" waiting for lunch.

Filling our bottle with water falling down the walls of the gorge.

Bed of Rhododendrons.

Chicks!
Our friend Alfred, hunting monkeys.

Langur! We saw monkeys a couple times, so cool to see wild monkeys!

The terraced fields of wheat give the mountains an alien like look.

Full of lady bugs.

We had to cross plenty of suspension bridges, this one was particularly scary.

Not a swimming pool. We got excited.

It was quite hot during the day, Ginger wetting her hat to stay cool.

Laundry.

I wasn't too sure about this bridge...

Stairs, so many stairs!

Looking down into the valley.

The nicest view of the mountain range, in my opinion.

Fog in the gorge, I felt like I was in Lord of the Rings.

Yaks.

Crib/rocker, Nepali style.

Stay tuned for more photos!
